Continuous or Piano Hinges

This is a hinge that comes in different lengths and can be bought in brass or steel. Countersink screws are can be used to position the hinge. A long narrow hinge with a pin running the entire length of its joint. Used for joining two edges that require support all along their lengths. Continuous Hinges, which run the entire length of the door (a.k.a. as "Piano Hinges")

Butt Hinges

Come in a range of sizes and are normally used for cabinet doors. A hinge where the pin is inserted into a round barrel. Commonly used on swinging doors. A hinge composed of two plates attached to abutting surfaces of a door and jamb then joined by a pin.

Uses: Door frames, Folding walls, Load bearing points

Living hingesare thin sections of plastic that connect two segments of a part to keep them together and allow the part to be opened and closed. Commonly found in containers that are used in high volume .The materials used to make a living hinge are usually a very flexible plastic. It's generally a thin section of the material that bends to allow flexibility.
